Argentina: Banning toxics in mining

Lawmakers from City Hall in San Carlos (a city in the Argentinean province of Mendoza) have announced a ban on the use of toxic chemicals in mining.
The Act (Ordenanza Nº 1.068/05) fixes sanctions against companies of up to 10,000 ounces of gold in cases of violation.
This municipal act follows in the spirit of Ordenanza de Epuyen, applied earlier in Chubut province.
