Stop Mining Tibet Day of Action - March 22 2007

Canada and UK Press announcement,

2nd March 2007

http://www.stopminingtibet.org/

On Thursday, March 22nd, Tibetans and their supporters in the UK and Canada will join hands to tell foreign companies they have no business profiting off Tibet's stolen resources. Under Chinese occupation, Tibetans have no voice to determine the use of their own natural resources, especially non-renewable resources like copper and gold. Mining in this context poses a serious threat to the Tibetan people, their culture and the environment. Canadian and British mining companies are leading the effort to exploit Tibet's natural resources without the consent of local Tibetan communities.

Join the *Stop Mining Tibet Day of Action* by participating in a protest at the mining company headquarters nearest you. If you don't live near a mining firm, take part by organizing a phone or fax action booth on campus or in your community. A list of mining company locations is included below.

We're building a website, *http://StopMiningTibet.org

with information, downloadable materials, and other resources to help stop these mining companies in their tracks. Keep checking back for updated information. To find out more about what's being planned in your community, contact one of the national organizers below.

With your help we'll tell Canadian and UK mining companies that Tibet's resources below to Tibetans!
