Environmental organisations and groups affected by open-pit mining in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Canada and Australia last week held a "Global Day of Action Against Barrick Gold", under the watchword "Barrick lies". It was timed to coincide with Barrick Gold shareholders' annual meeting in Canada.
