New of a rebellion by Tibetan local people against the mining of a sacred mountain, trickled out of China last week, with allegations that several village elders have gone "missing". Meanwhile the regional authorities say they will enforce an existing ban on mercury, arsenic, and smallscale (placer) gold mining.
