By-passng India's environmental clearance process (or attempting to compromise it) is making a mockery of forestry protection legislation, according to one Delhi-based environmentalist.
Meanwhile, Maoists (or "Naxalites") are calling for an economic blockade this week of iron ore mining in the conflict-ridden Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, to"send across the message that the resources of the region belong to the locals of the area...not private firms."
