Sami struggle amidst desolation

It's one of the "ten worst places" in the world according to the Blacksmith Institute [see http://www.minesandcommunities.org/Action/press1254.htm]

Last month the BBC provided some insight into the lives of the remaining Sami people who try to survive on Russia's blighted Kola peninsular. Although not mentioned in the article, the company reponsible for the destruction described is Norilsk, while the expansion now underway is being part-financed by Rio Tinto and BHPBilliton.
