Another blow to Ascendant Exploration in Ecuador

English summary of Spanish articles below: Another blow to Ascendant Exploration was delivered on August 27th, when five Ecuadorian communities in the Junin area decisively rejected Ascendant's offer to improve their roads. As a result of the decision, the company was forced to withdraw its equipment and leave the area.

Representatives from the communities of Chalguayacu Alto, Chalguayacu Bajo, Junin, Chontal Alto and La Armenia, together with the board of the Community Development Council, met Captain Nelson Moreno, the representative of Ascendant Exploration in Intag, and unequivocally rejected the company's offer.

Meanwhile - accordng to the leading environmental organisation DECOIN - a recent version of Ascendant's web page misleadingly implies that the company has started advanced exploration in the concession area. This could not be further rom the truth, as the company does not even have the environmental impact study necessary to start exploration, and the community of Junin has blocked all attempts by the company to enter its lands, where most concessions are located.
